As I watched old family home movies, I was struck by how odd it seemed to set up a camcorder on a tripod and let it record for hours from a fixed point. The result is often like a still photograph, with life unfolding in full through the audio. This was a tribute to that practice—the camcorder as a silent observer, documenting both the sights and sounds of life.
