EMOTIONAL TOPOLOGIES

"When I'm taking my own picture, I'm the subject, I'm in it.  I'm just really capturing how I'm feeling at that moment.  And then there's a time where I process the film and scan it.  And sometimes that time period can be a couple weeks.  And then i look at it.  I look at it for a lot longer than i took it.

Once I've gone through that process, of looking at the piece, something changes.  I try to make sense of it.  But it's still really difficult for me to translate that experience into words.   All i know is how I'm feeling.

You don't learn in school how to articulate those types of feelings, what kind of language to use.   You feel happy, sad, angry, scared; those are the main emotions.  And sometimes I feel all of them, and its really overwhelming.  I try to share that with somebody else...and its really hard to do."
